Attribution and licensing
How to check licenses and write attributions when using the data
Queria hosts cleaned versions of open data published by third parties. When using the data, follow the license and attribution requirements set by each dataset’s original provider.
Where to check licenses and sources
Each table’s license and source appear in the information table on the table detail page.
- License: the license attached to the original data (linked to the license text when available)
- Data source: the URL of the original data’s distributor
- Source code: a link to the transformation logic that produces the table
Before using or redistributing data, check these on the table’s detail page first. See View table details for where they appear.
How to write an attribution
Much of Japan’s open data can be used on the condition that the source is stated. When you use the data in an article or other deliverable, include the following as a baseline.
- The name of the original data provider (for example, a government statistics office or municipality)
- The URL of the data source
- A note that Queria has processed the data, if applicable
Example:
Source: created by Queria by processing data from e-Stat (the portal site of official statistics of Japan)
For the exact provider name and conditions, follow the original data’s license and data source shown on the table detail page.
Caution
Queria reshapes data into an analysis-friendly form, but does not guarantee the accuracy of the original data itself. For important decisions, verify against the primary sources listed at the data source.
