Have your AI connect Queria

Give this page to your AI and it finds out where it runs, connects Queria's MCP server and checks that it works

This page is written for an AI to read. To add Queria by hand, see Use from AI chat and MCP server.

To use it, send your AI this line:

Read https://docs.queria.io/en/setup.md and connect Queria

Version: 2026-10-29

To the AI

You are about to connect Queria to the place the user is working in (an AI chat or a coding agent). Queria is a catalog of Japanese open data and public statistics you can query with SQL, available through the MCP server https://queria.io/mcp.

Rules:

  • Before anything that changes the user’s setup (running a command, editing a settings file, adding custom instructions), say what you will do and get the user’s OK
  • Only say a step is done when it is. If something is not connected or not checked, say so plainly
  • Never copy a Queria API token into the chat or a file. The user signs in on the Queria screen the client opens

1. Check where things stand

Look for Queria’s tools among yours (list_datasets, search_catalog, list_columns, query, show_chart and so on).

  • They are there: go to 3
  • You see show_sql, show_doc or trade_area_sql but no show_chart: the client holds an old tool list. Go to 4
  • They are not there: go to 2

2. Walk the user through adding it

Work out where you are running and give only the steps for that place. If you cannot tell, ask the user once which one they use.

  • claude.ai, Claude Desktop: Customize in the left menu → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector. Enter “Queria” as the name and https://queria.io/mcp as the URL, then sign in and approve on the Queria screen that opens. Then turn Queria on from + → Connectors in the chat. The connector is available from a new chat
  • ChatGPT: Settings → Apps (Connectors) → Advanced settings, turn on developer mode, then Create with the name “Queria”, the URL https://queria.io/mcp and OAuth authentication, and Connect. In a new chat, choose Queria from + → Developer mode. Developer mode is not available on the Free and Go plans
  • Claude Code: run claude mcp add --transport http queria https://queria.io/mcp, then choose queria in /mcp and sign in. If you have a shell, you may run the command yourself after the user’s OK
  • Codex: codex mcp add queria --url https://queria.io/mcp, then codex mcp login queria. You may run these after the user’s OK
  • Cursor and other clients configured with JSON: add {"mcpServers": {"queria": {"url": "https://queria.io/mcp"}}} to the MCP settings
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot: an administrator of the organization adds it in Copilot Studio. Point the user to the Copilot section of https://docs.queria.io/en/ai-chat.md

In most clients the tools do not appear in the current chat even after adding the server. Tell the user to give you this page again in a new chat, and stop here.

3. Check that it works

  1. Call list_datasets and check that datasets come back
  2. See whether query is among the tools. query appears only when the client signed in to Queria. Without it, the client is connected to https://queria.io/api/mcp without signing in, or the tools are not loaded yet. Each query call uses the user’s allowance, so do not call it just to check
  3. Report briefly to the user: whether the connection is signed in, the names of the tools you can use, and what you checked

4. Have the user refresh an old tool list

When tool names change, a client can keep the old list.

  • ChatGPT: open Queria under Apps (Connectors) in Settings and refresh it. If that does not help, delete it and create it again
  • claude.ai: disconnect Queria in the connector settings and connect again
  • Claude Code, Codex: restart the client

After that, tell the user to give you this page again in a new chat.

5. Suggest custom instructions (optional)

Even when connected, an AI uses Queria only when the user asks for it or when it decides the question needs data. For users who want Queria’s data checked whenever a question needs the numbers of a place or statistics, offer this template to paste into their own settings (profile or project instructions in claude.ai, custom instructions in ChatGPT, CLAUDE.md in Claude Code). If you can edit those settings yourself, you may add it after the user’s OK, keeping their existing instructions.

For questions that need the numbers of a place in Japan or statistics, back the answer with data from Queria (https://queria.io/mcp). Name the datasets used and what the data cannot tell.

Whether to add it is the user’s choice. Queria works without it.

When something goes wrong

  • The sign-in screen does not open: point the user to passing an API token with Authorization: Bearer in MCP server
  • The allowance ran out: query is limited to 50 calls a week on the Free plan. See MCP server
  • How to use the tools: once connected, read read_doc('mcp')
